[I SWIM] [I RIDE] [I RUN] next week 4 Sterling Davis

I just received an email from a friend Roger Davis, whom I’ve only know for a short time, but who’s family has been such an inspiration to me on many levels. They’re son Sterling, who will be 6 years old in October, has been battling a tumor for some time now and is now about to go in next week to have the remainder of the tumor removed. I don’t trust myself to give all of the details (LEARN MORE…

Riding 150 miles for a purpose!

This cycling thing is a fairly new thing for me since I have recently signed up for my first triathlon that will take place this month. Well, now I’ve signed up to be a part of an amazing cycling event called the MSbike “JACK & BACK”. It’s a 150 mile round trip bike ride to Lynchburg, TN and back to Franklin, TN, benefiting MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. (learn more about MS HERE) Never in my right mind would I EVER see myself…

Devastating Tennessee Flood Images & How YOU Can Help

I’ve been hearing that these floods have been the worst that anyone has seen in over 30 years. Thank God that my neighborhood and home is safe, but that’s not the case for for most of the Nashville Metro Area and beyond. Over the weekend we’ve watched anything from tornado watches/warnings, a ton of rain, floating mobile homes cruising down major highways, cars piled on top of each other 4 deep, Wal-Marts & other businesses and homes under water, our…

How Many Plates Are You Juggling?

I find it amazing the difference between our lives now compared to life 150 years ago. The stories that I’ve heard time and time again from my grandparents about how simple yet hard working their lives were, always amazes me. They did their work during the day, ate dinner, had family time and had zero distractions other than entertainment with the family and then it was bedtime. Their entertainment generally always involved other, as they occasionally went in to town…

Hope Never Comes Too Late

CONTEMPLATION: I have tried to blog about this topic multiple times. I have at least 3 drafts I’ve starting in regards to my Dad and the struggles that have taken over his life and infiltrated his family in many ways throughout the last 20 years. I just never felt right to post them, knowing that there was never any hope in them. I now have some hope to share and I’m ecstatic to do so, but before I do I…

Blake & I after my first Natchez Trace 25 mile ride

I have to give props to my buddies that have been helping me get up almost every morning at 5:30am or out on the weekends. Without them being there I would never make it out the door: Brian Elliott, Aaron Fortner, David Ott, Blake Bergstrom, Spence Smith

Okay, so some of you will see posts from Facebook and Twitter of my stats of recent rides, runs and swims while training for the Cedars of Lebanon Triathlon in August. My last post I shared why I’m even doing this thing. Now I’m going to share why I’m posting my training stats. This morning was my first ride and run by myself. I have had a training partner for most of it the past couple of weeks. I know…

In a nut shell I’m doing this for my family. I’ve heard multiple times over the last few years of guys my age (34) having small heart attacks. Over the past 6 to 8 months I too had been having chest pains. Possibly stress related, possibly not. Who knows? Who cares? I just knew I needed to do something so my wife can have someone to be an empty nest-er with someday, and so my boys will have there dad to throw the ball with in the front yard and go camping and fishing with down the road.

As a lot of you know, we just survived the horrible Nashville Floods, well, I just received word that my hometown of Oklahoma is getting beat up by the rain just as bad as we did here. They had over 8 inches of rain in one hour last night and it’s still coming down. I’m suppose to fly in to visit this Thursday night thru Sunday. Maybe we could look at this as a bad time to go, or a…
